Bonnie and Bob Merrill, proprietors

Bob Merrill has been working on vehicles for more than 40 years. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor company as a field service technician for 17 years before he and Bonnie opened Horsepower Barn in 1979. Bob is a Master ASE Technician with an L1 certification in Advanced Derivability. Both Bonnie and Bob earned their AAM (Accredited Automotive Manager) degree's in 1996 from the Automotive Service Association Management Institute. Bob was chosen "Napa Maine ASE Technician of the Year 2004."  and then......this National news release..

Look at this picture carefully. Here in Maine we have alot of "creature migration" in the fall for the winter. This rodent made a home in this air cleaner housing. The customer came roaring in with the throttle cable stuck open. The housing and above the housing was filled with matting & straw. Your vehicle needs to have a professional look under the hood at least once a year to try to detect this potential problem.

What is true value ?  Is it when something is the cheapest ?  Or is it what you get for your money ?  When it comes to the automotive industry here are some thoughts to consider:  In order for a repair shop to do things cheaper what are you as a customer giving up ?  There will always be someone that can do it cheaper.  Does the repair shop have experienced ASE certified professionals that are compensated properly or people just leaning on your car ?  Does the repair shop carry garage liability insurance in case something happens to YOUR VEHICLE. Do they keep up with todays technology ?   Do they attend training ?  Do they use the highest quality parts or just the cheapest parts they can buy ?  How long do they stand behind their repairs ? (Till they can't see your tail lights or for at least a year).  Do they offer above and beyond services like shuttle service, loaner cars, service reminders or courtesy checks ?
